DAY 1: ARRIVAL - KUCHING

Arrive Kuching in the morning. Meet and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a City Tour which will take you to places of interest such as Tua Pek Kong Temple (the oldest Chinese Temple in Kuching), the Old Gambier Spice Street with its open market, the Malay Village and the Muslim Mosque, the Kuching Waterfront with a reordered history of Sarawak and the Sarawak Museum (known to be the best museum in South East Asia). Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 2: KUCHING – MULU

Arrival at Mulu airport, meet and greet and transfer to your hotel for check in. Afternoon, meet at resort lobby and transfer to Mulu National Park headquarters. Upon registration and proceed on plank walk for 3 Km to reach Deer Cave & Lang Cave. After exploring the caves, proceed to bats observatory to observe bats flying out of caves entrance at late evening (Only confine to fine weather). Return journey on the same plank walk to park headquarters and transfer back to resort. Dinner and overnight at resort. (B, D)

 

DAY 3: TREKKING TO CAMP 5

Breakfast at resort and transfer by longboat proceed to Batu Bungan - Penan Settlement, to observe the tribe lifestyle and to select handicrafts on display for sale. Continue journey by longboat to Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts. Relax for a while then continue journey by longboat to Long Litut. Then jungle trek for 3 hours to Camp 5. Dinner and overnight at Camp 5. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 4: CAMP 5 – PINNACLE

Breakfast at Camp 5. After early breakfast ascend to Gunung Api for 3 hours to view the magnificent Pinnacles. During the climb you will see many species of plants, all types of insects within this virgin jungle of Borneo. Pack lunch will be served at the observatory point. After lunch descend to Camp 5. Dinner and overnight at Camp 5. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 5: CAMP 5 – MEDALAM LONGHOUSE

Breakfast at Camp 5 and walk through lowland forest to Terikan river (Pack lunch), then by longboat down the Terikan and Medalam rivers to longhouse. Dinner and overnight at longhouse. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 6: MEDALAM LONGHOUSE – LIMBANG AIRPORT - MIRI

Breakfast at longhouse. After breakfast transfer by longboat down the river to Nanga Medamit, then by road to the town of Limbang. Afternoon transfer to Limbang airport for flight to Miri. Overnight at hotel. (B)

 

DAY 7: MIRI – BARIO

Depart Miri to Bario. On arrival in Bario, transfer to Lodge and after Lunch we will explore Bario Valley which leads us to Ulung Palang Longhouse, the Schools in Bario and Bario Asal, the first longhouse in Bario. After touring the surrounding, we will walk back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge. (B, L, D)


DAY 8: BARIO

After breakfast, trek to Pa Umor about 1 – 11/2hr which is an open trail. Visit the salt spring and return to the Lodge for Lunch. After Lunch we return to Bario or we can trek from PA Umor to Pa Ukat and onwards to the Lodge. Dinner and overnight stay. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 9: BARIO – MIRI – KOTA KINABALU

Breakfast before transfer to airport for flight out of Bario Highland to Miri. Lunch in Miri and flight to Kota Kinabalu. Arrival in Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel. Proceed for a tour of the City of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the State of Sabah. The tour will include a photo stop at Sabah State Mosque with its gold inlaid onion dome, the largest dome of its type in Malaysia. Visit the Chinese Buddhist Temple where a huge statue of Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy welcomes and bless to all who visit the temple. A photo stop at the Menara Tun Mustapha, a magnificent building with its reflective glass panel, one of the few hanging structure type of building in the world. A visit to the Sabah State Museum. Have an insight to the history of the State of Sabah and its people. From the Museum, proceed to handicraft market for handicraft and essential items that local eat and use. (B, L)

DAY 10: KOTA KINABALU PARK AND PORING HOT SPRING

Meet at hotel lobby and proceed to Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s Natural Heritage site. Journey will take approximately 2 hours passing by villages, paddy fields along mountainous roads that wind along the Crocker range. A brief stopover at Nabalu, a collection of native stalls selling fruits, vegetables, local produce and handicrafts. An opportunity to observe the local stall activities. Arrive at Kinabalu Park, enjoy the cool and refreshing mountain air, if the day is clear a majestic view of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia. Proceed for a guided walk along the nature trails with the park naturalist. While walking listen to the sounds of the jungle and observe nature's plants, trees, orchids and butterflies. Kinabalu Park boasts an estimate of 4,500 species of plants which includes 1,500 species of orchids, 77 of which are endemic to Kinabalu. The park also supports 289 species of birds and 290 different types of butterflies. After lunch, depart for another interesting natural wonder, the Poring Hot Spring located approximately 47 kilometres from Kinabalu Park. Poring Hot Spring named after the tall bamboo plant that is abundant in that area is a natural spring where hot sulphurous water emit from the ground. There are Japanese Baths where visitors can soak themselves and let the invigorating sulphurous water stimulate the body. Visitors can also try the canopy walkway, where suspension bridges are suspended at the top of the canopy for visitors to walk among the canopy of a tropical Jungle. Depart Poring Hot Spring for Kota Kinabalu. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 11: KOTA KINABALU – SANDAKAN – SUKAU

Morning transfer to Kota Kinabalu International Airport for your flight to Sandakan Drive for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform. Feeding of Orangutan. At this centre, observe man’s closest relative “The Orangutan” being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. Depart Sepilok and transfer to jetty in Sandakan. Take an hour boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary where you will take your lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant. This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of

Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. After Lunch, free and relax at our nature board walk before cruising for searching other wildlife. After dinner, a night cruise lead you to witness the nature of fire flies as Christmas tree. Overnight at Lodge. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 12: SUKAU

Wake up by the calls of nature. Early morning take a river trip to Pitas Lake to observe wildlife and experience the unique of Pitas Lake. After breakfast, an option to join our tree planting project with the locals and lunch with them at Abai Village. This project especially to help the locals. After lunch, cruise UP river to Sukau village in search of primates especially the Endemic Proboscis Monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Arrive Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon, an option to take another river cruise with electric motor to Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Return lodge for dinner and overnight at Lodge. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 13: SUKAU – LAHAD DATU – TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE

After breakfast, transfer by road to Lahad Datu (approx. 2hrs). Transfer by road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve (journey time approx. 11⁄2 hrs). Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, which comes complete with private balcony, air conditioner, ceiling fan and hot-water shower, a welcome luxury in the forest. Nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad River, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort. Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments. Visit Trogon Hall gallery for information about the conservation of Tabin Wildlife Reserve and a briefing on the birds, insects and animals that are found in this area. (For guest check in before 11:00am). In the afternoon, trek from the Elephant trail to the active Lipad mud volcano, which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife. Arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano, which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. The adventurous can try the effects of the volcanic mud, said to be responsible for a fine complexion. Trek from the mud volcano back to the main road. After dinner, enjoy a CD/slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge and overnight. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 14: TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE

Join the early-morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of almost 300 bird species. After breakfast, drive to the core area stop-over and climb up the bird watching tower. Along the way, the guide will show and explain to you the Orang-Utan Release Centre, before trekking through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. Alternatively, explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax.

In the afternoon, try out the Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak, made with a natural blend of herbs, ideal for relaxing tired muscles after a long jungle trek. In the evening, a dusk drive to look out for more nocturnal wildlife & birds coming out to look for food during this time of the day. After dinner, go for a night walk along the trail nearby the resort in search of sleeping birds, frog and nocturnal wildlife. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 15: TABIN WILDLIFE CENTRE - LAHAD DATU - KOTA KINABALU

After breakfast, free and easy until check-out. Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu. Arrival in Kota Kinabalu International Airport and proceed to Kuala Lumpur. (B, L)
